Dragon Copilot (3.3.0) / DAX Copilot (1.10) ED MDM style option Retirement
Important DAX Copilot Update
Enhanced Emergency Department Documentation
Client Alert
Microsoft and Nuance have announced an important enhancement to DAX Copilot that directly benefits our Emergency Department clients. As your trusted partner with 25+ years of experience implementing clinical documentation solutions, we want to ensure you're informed and prepared for this positive change.
What's Happening
Good News for ED Providers: The Emergency Department specialty model in DAX Copilot has been significantly improved. The AI now automatically generates optimized Assessment & Plan sections for ED encounters, making the separate "ED MDM style option" unnecessary.
The Enhancement: Last quarter's introduction of the dedicated ED specialty model delivers substantially better clinical notes, particularly in the Assessment & Plan section. This improvement eliminates the need for the previous manual styling option.
Action Required for Current ED Users
If you're currently using the "ED MDM option" in your style wizard settings:
- Update your settings before the Dragon Copilot 3.3.0 / DAX Copilot 1.10 release
- Choose either:
- "No format change" (recommended) - retains the improved AI-generated formatting
- Select customizable templates that align with your documentation preferences
- Note: Users who don't update will automatically default to "No format change"
Why This Matters
This update represents exactly what we've seen consistently from Microsoft and Nuance: continuous improvement based on real clinical feedback. The retirement of the ED MDM style option demonstrates that the new Emergency Department specialty model provides:
Support Available
As always, we're here to help you navigate these improvements:
- Implementation guidance for updating your settings
- Training support on the enhanced ED functionality
- Technical assistance during the transition
The Bigger Picture
This enhancement reinforces why Voice Automated partners with Microsoft and Nuance: their commitment to continuous innovation that directly addresses clinician needs. The fact that an entire styling option can be retired because the AI has become that much better demonstrates the rapid advancement in healthcare AI technology.
For our ED partners, this means even more time saved on documentation and better clinical notes – automatically.
Questions? Our team is ready to assist with any settings updates or training needs. This is exactly the kind of seamless improvement that makes our 25+ year partnership with Microsoft and Nuance so valuable for your practice.
