Microsoft has published the next two versions. 5.0 is still what you run today. This is the calendar, with the caveats attached.
Microsoft is moving fast. That is the useful fact, and it is also the one that gets clinics into trouble: a partner email about 5.1 lands, someone asks when to turn it on, and the honest answer is that 5.1 is not a current release. Microsoft’s public product list still names 5.0. What follows is the published roadmap for what is planned next — September and October, subject to change — written so you can prepare without pretending it has shipped.

5.1 — planned for September
Standby mode: “Hey Dragon” Physician
Start recording with a wake word so documentation can stay hands-free. Microsoft lists this for English-speaking users in the United States and Canada, across web, desktop, mobile, and embedded. Configuration will ship with the “now available” notice — Voice Automated handles that switch; it is not a console walkthrough we reprint.
USB foot-pedal hotkeys Physician
Compatible USB foot pedals can be mapped to Dragon Copilot voice commands using existing keyboard shortcuts, so pedal-dependent dictation workflows survive the move off Dragon Medical One. All regions; web, desktop, and embedded. Several USB pedals are supported; we will match the hardware you already own rather than sending you shopping.
Template versioning and restore Physician
Dragon Copilot will keep a version history of templates, with an Undo control on the toolbar, so a bad edit is reversible instead of a rebuild. All regions; web, mobile, desktop, and embedded.
Inpatient diagnosis retrieval Physician
Inpatient notes can carry admission diagnoses from the EHR into Assessment & Plan, alongside diagnoses heard in the recording. United States. Microsoft lists this for September without a version number on the public table — we keep that distinction rather than stuffing it into 5.1 by habit.
Psychology note updates Physician
Note generation weighted toward talk-therapy content, a stronger Mental Status Exam, and a more complete Assessment & Plan. United States. Same untagged-September listing as inpatient retrieval. If you already live on the psychiatry note-model spoke, this is the next increment, not a replacement of that page.
Summary totals on nursing dashboards Nursing
Aggregated totals land in the Overview and User engagement details dashboards for nursing analytics in 5.1. The same family of totals is planned for physician analytics in 5.2 — one capability, two calendars.
5.2 — planned for October
Patient matching Physician
A traffic-light indicator that the patient in the active session matches the chart open in the EHR. United States; Dragon Copilot desktop; and only in environments where that EHR pairing applies. It is a safety control, not a cosmetic badge — and it will not appear in every stack.
Spanish (US), nursing public preview Nursing
Spanish (US) speech support for bilingual documentation in supported nursing workflows. United States, public preview, on the nursing app and the embedded experience. Preview means it can move; do not staff a go-live off a preview flag.
Flowsheet profile manager Nursing
A centralized place to create and maintain templates and profiles, with bulk assignment, automatic preference saving, and a choice between administrator-assigned or user-selected profiles. Microsoft is also renaming service line to care setting across the nursing admin experience. United States. Voice Automated will configure this with you; we do not publish the console path.
Analytics that match how you actually manage people
Nursing: usage reporting, trend drill-down by site / unit / role, and EHR identifiers that match what administrators already maintain. Physician: deleted sessions in session-level KPIs, filters for primary specialty / user type / role, EHR ID on user tables, cleaner role labels, and a split between Dropped users and a new Drop risk gap aligned to lapsed users (active in 30 days, quiet for 14). Mix of United States and all-region items — we will scope yours against the live table at enablement, not against this summary.
What this does not change about Dragon Medical One
Wake word and foot-pedal support are the opposite of a Copilot-only future. They are Microsoft closing the last obvious reasons a DMO physician would say the new product does not feel like the old one. If your clinic is productive on Dragon Medical One today, stay productive. When 5.1 actually ships, the conversation is whether those two controls are configured in your environment — not whether you should have paused six weeks earlier.
Still on 5.0 — or not even there?
Most of 5.0 stays unreachable until an administrator enables the enhanced interface. That is the current-release work, and it is still the work.
Weighing the move from DMO?
The living, version-by-version scorecard. 5.0 is current. 5.1 and 5.2 are planned on top of it, not instead of it.
Psychiatry notes this cycle?
The note-model and ICD-10 naming change already shipped. The 5.1 psychology updates sit on top of that page, they do not replace it.

Those dates are plans and are subject to change. We will update this page when 5.1 publishes as a product release.

No. Wake word and foot-pedal support are Microsoft closing remaining DMO-parity gaps, not a signal that DMO is a stopgap. If Dragon Medical One is working in your clinic today, keep using it. When 5.1 actually reaches your tenant, the question is configuration and training — not whether you should have paused.
